Our Mission
The Galatia Church Railroad Club is a ministry of Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. We exist to bring people together through a shared love of trains, history, and craftsmanship — all grounded in Christian faith and fellowship.
Our club welcomes people of all ages and experience levels. Whether you grew up building layouts in your basement or have never held a model locomotive, you have a place here.
We believe the hobby of model railroading is a unique avenue for building community — the patience it requires, the history it honors, and the craftsmanship it demands all mirror virtues at the heart of Christian living.
What We Stand For
The four pillars that guide everything we do
Our Foundation. Every meeting, every project, and every trip begins with the recognition that we serve a God who cares about the details of our lives — including our hobbies.
Our Community. Trains have a remarkable way of bringing people together across generations. We cultivate that gift intentionally, building lasting bonds within our church family.
Our Journey. From the history of American railroads to the technical craft of building a realistic layout, there is always something new to discover. We learn together.
Our Purpose. We look for opportunities to use our hobby for the good of others — from demonstrations at community events to mentoring young hobbyists.
What We Do
Regular gatherings for members to share projects, learn new techniques, and enjoy fellowship around the hobby.
We organize visits to railroad museums, heritage railways, and special events — like the rail festivals our members have recently enjoyed.
Working together on club layout projects that showcase different eras, railroads, and modeling techniques.
Introducing younger members to the hobby and the history of American railroading in a faith-filled environment.
